Mercedes-Benz Vito’s a million mile-eater for executive travel operator

When Blackburn-based executive travel operator John Reed says the Mercedes-Benz Vito is his vehicle of choice because it will run for a million miles, he’s speaking from experience.

Mr Reed has just visited local dealer Ciceley Commercials, where he traded in a 13-year-old Vito 111 CDI Traveliner that had clocked-up 1,030,000 miles, and replaced it with a highly-specified 2015 Vito 114 CDI Tourer Select from the latest model range.

Incredibly, Mr Reed’s business, Revidge & Wilpshire, put even more miles on an earlier Vito.

He said: “We had one a few years ago that had covered 1,250,000 miles before we finally retired it, while we have another that’s done well over 700,000 and is still going strong.

“Our experience has proved that a properly maintained Vito can be relied upon to run for a million miles and more without serious trouble. In fact, there was nothing wrong with the vehicle we recently traded in - it was still reliable, solid, and in great condition inside and out, so I’d happily have sent it out for at least another year. The only reason we decided to change it now, was that Ciceley had a very smart used Vito which was available at a highly attractive price.”

Revidge & Wilpshire serves customers throughout east Lancashire and surrounding areas. Its fleet comprises four passenger-carrying Vito models, as well as a pair of Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars. All are used for corporate and private travel, including airport transfers, across the UK.

The Vito the company has just stood down was brand new when Revidge & Wilpshire purchased it from Ciceley Commercials in 2006. Mr Reed said: “It’s barely run in!
