Over the August Bank Holiday weekend Company Car Today has entered two teams in the Le Mans Velo 24-hour cycle event where we, along with over 500 other teams, will be attempting to complete as many laps of the 2.7-mile Bugatti Circuit as possible. One team consists of Company Car Today Editor Paul Barker, Publisher Dave Wallace, Company Van Today Editor Tom Webster and motoring journalist Jon Quirk, while CCT contributor and freelance journalist David Motton is the second team. On his own. Attempting the event solo.
We’re trying to raise as much money as possible for the excellent motor industry cancer charity WOMAC, and everything we raise will help motivate the legs through the night shifts and when things are getting tough towards the finish. So please give generously at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/company-car-today. We’ll also be posting updates on social media during the event, so follow via @companycartoday or the Company Car Today Facebook page.
We’ve been kindly supported by Toyota, a company that succeeded in a way we won’t be later this month by winning the Le Mans 24-hour race in June, and for the second year in a row. Whereas we’ll be hoping to finish outside the bottom 100 of the 520 teams taking part over the bank holiday weekend (24-25 August). We’re grateful for the support, and will hopefully raise as much money as possible for WOMAC, a charity run by volunteers from within the motor industry to help cancer-related projects, searching for more effective treatments or improving the quality of life for cancer sufferers, their families and carers. A massively worthwhile cause, I’m sure you’ll agree.
