British-built Vauxhall Astra scoops SME Company Car of the Year Award
The Vauxhall Astra 1.6 CDTi Design 110PS S/S ecoFLEX has
been voted the SME Company Car of the Year 2017.
Voted for by an independent judging panel, the British-built
Astra beat the new Jaguar F-Pace and the new Audi A4 in the SME small fleet
The SME Company Car of the Year Awards, run by Business Car Manager, is supported by
Fleet Alliance, a leading lease car supplier to the SME business sector.
Announcing the winner, editorial director of Business Car Manager Ralph Morton, said:
“The Vauxhall Astra is such a great all-round car for the SME business buyer,
it’s not hard to see why our independent judges placed it first.
“The built in Britain Astra has great operating costs, so
that’s a big plus for the finance director; and also delivers over 85mpg
economy and low company car taxation, which is a massive plus for any SME
“But above all it delivers a great all-round proposition of
enjoyable driving dynamics, great specification, and low costs. Congratulations
to all at Vauxhall, and in particular the workers at Ellesmere Port where the
Astra is built.”
The Vauxhall Astra also won the category Best Value SME
Company Car, while the Best SME Company Car Programme also went to Vauxhall.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Transporter T6 T28 Highline SWB MR
BMT 102ps was voted the Business Van of the Year 2017. The new VW Transporter
beat the Vauxhall Movano and Renault Kangoo ZE for scoop the award.
Business Van of the Year Awards is run by Business Vans, a van user news and
Mr Morton said: “The Volkswagen Transporter won our first
Business Van of the Year Award in 2014, and this new sixth-generation version
continues that tradition. For those in the trades and small businesses, the
Transporter really is an iconic van. Smart, dependable, and good to drive, the
Transporter does it all for this important sector of the market.”
The Volkswagen Transporter also won the Best Large Trades
Van category while the Transporter Kombi won the Best Crew Van award.
